Welcome Back!

It is time to gear up for another school year! There will be plenty of opportunities to get involved in service this year! The Community Service Center will host fun and educational service events that will allow you to serve with your friends and meet new College of Charleston students.

For more information on how to sign up for Community Service Center events, please e-mail volunteer@cofc.edu or stop by our office in the Lightsey Center, Second Floor, Room 203. Please check back often for possible changes and updates.

Welcome Week Project: Ronald McDonald House of Charleston

Calling all Freshman! Come help us prepare a home-cooked meal for the Ronald McDonald House of Charleston on Calhoun Street. Enjoy showing off your cooking skills and get the chance to meet other new students!

Are you looking for a way to meet new people and get involved in service opportunities on campus? Come visit the Community Service Center table at the Volunteer Fair on George Street in between your classes! You will also have the opportunity to visit with local non-profit organizations to learn about exciting new volunteer opportunities for the year.

Bonner Leaders Program

Are you interested in the Bonner Leaders Program at the College of Charleston? Come to the Bonner Open House and the Bonner Drop-In Event to find out more information about the service-scholarship program that provides students with the opportunity to work in non-profit organizations around the Charleston area while developing leadership skills and supplementing their income.

Do you live on Line or Bogard Street? Come out and help clean up your neighborhood and meet some of your neighbors! That evening, jazz-artist Quintin Baxter will be playing at Eye Level Art. All volunteers who participated in the cleanup with receive free admission to the gallery along with refreshments.

Dash For Trash
Saturday, September 24

Each year, teams of students join together, grab a grocery cart and swarm into downtown Charleston searching for trash. Dash For Trash is a scavenger hunt where teams of students join together to collect trash in the community. Teams compete for prizes and to do their part in keeping their community clean. Different trash items have different values. For example, a team may get two points for picking up a hub cap, five points for an entire garbage bag of trash or 15 points for a plastic bottle filled with cigarette litter. Already have a team?
